Tom Dixon is a British designer specializing in furniture design and creative director of his own eponymous firm, whose work encompasses iconic pieces that have been exhibited in museums, galleries and fairs and is inspired by his country's unique heritage.
Born in Tunisia in 1959 to a British father and French mother, Dixon moved with his family to London, United Kingdom, when he was 4 years old. He abandoned his art studies to play bass with a band called Funkapolitan and discovered his affinity for industrial design by chance, after suffering a traffic accident and trying to repair his motorcycle on his own, which led him to discover and learn there the welder. in 1983.

Melt Mini is a beautifully distorted small surface light in a modern Smoke finish. Featuring our intergrated LED module, this Tom Dixon wall light creates a mesmerizing melting hot-blown glass effect when on and a mirror-finish effect when off. It is made in Germany using a high tech manufacturing technique to achieve a perfect melted orb.
The range is blow moulded and vacuum metallised - techniques that have been developed over several years, working with German engineering and manufacturing experts. The LED module offers three key benefits - longer life expectancy, energy efficiency and improved performance including dimmability and light control. Our integrated LED module is fully serviceable and replacement components and individual drivers are available if needed. Melt also comes as a chandelier, table, floor and pendant light. Available in a contemporary Chrome, Gold and Copper finish.
